Angel Babies

If you like to read stories about Angels, this is the book to read.  She has 2 other books on Angels as well.  The book consist of short stories submitted by people all over who believe they have angelic experiences (another chicken soup like book).

In Angel Babies, most of the stories are related to babies, either the parents or a carer of a child experience the divine intervention of an Angel for a particular situation.  Some are memories from a childhood experience.  A few mothers see their guardian angels as their child is being born.

Some stories sounds freaky, while some leave you a warm and fuzzy feeling.  Which ever you feel, you need to be child like to experience it yourself.

Please Don’t Feed The Daisy by Beverly West and Jason Bergund

Posted on Friday, January 8, 2010 in Uncategorized
Please Don't Feed The Daisy

Please Don't Feed The Daisy

Beverly’s life changed the moment Jason moved in with her.  Daisy, a Chihuahua was adopted by them one evening while they went for dinner.  It wasn’t planned and from then on, life happens.  First it was Daisy then Elvis, the pug after which they got little Buddha, Bert, Betty and Busta Pughuahua or Chihuapug puppies if you will.

The story is pretty normal but what sets the book apart from the other dog memoir is that the author puts in recipes in between the pages.  And at the end of the book, she shares with her readers a diet plan Daisy underwent to shed those pounds.  So if you have an obese dog, this is a good book to get for the diet plan if not, I would not get it just for a read.

Grow Your Money

Grow Your Money

Jonathan D.Pond’s ‘Grow Your Money - 101 easy tips to plan, save and invest’ is one book that has almost all the basics for saving and investment covered for people who are not financially savvy. Though at one glance it might look too technical, it really is a simple book with contents that is easy to understand and Jonathan has compile some of his best financial advices on how to grow our money while still living the life we would like to. Anyone and everyone can read this book and will be able to take home some good tips that will help in terms of saving, investing, planning for retirement investment, buying a house, how to use debt to your advantage and many others.

The chapters in the book are well written and has calculations shown with it so that some of the theories explained makes sense to the readers. I would recommend that people who do have financial difficulties or would like to plan their finance to pick out the sections most relevant to them and use it as a guide. At the introduction of the book, the author has already segregate the book into sections for the baby boomers, generation Xer and Generation Yer, about to retire, recent retiree and veteran retiree. This makes the reading much easier for those who have difficulty reading every pages of the book. Although some part can be rather US centric however the principles and practices are global in applications. Kudos to the author who is able to reach those who are not so finance savvy with his great collection of financial tools and tips!!

Cubicle Warfare: 101 Office Traps and Pranks

John Austin, the author must be either a very bitter person or a terrorizing big bully for him to produce a book such as this. We must commend him for his creativity and effort spent collecting 101 office traps and pranks. This book is definitely the ULTIMATE manual specifically designed for the following group of people:

1. Those who had a very bad experience with the boss or colleague and would like to take revenge on his last day at work

2. Those people who work in the entertaining industry, basically wanting cheap entertainment and inspiration from people who gets pranked

3. For those silver spoon rich brat who works for the father that have nothing  much to do in the office except for playing prank on office staffs

4. Simply for those who got so much time and have nothing better to do!

This book is easy to read with step by step instructions that comes along with visuals. However, this book is not for the faint hearted, as spiderman said, “With great power, comes great responsibility”. On the other hand, this ‘office traps guide’ will help you to recognize the warning signs, prevent the pranks from happening and defend your work area from the 101 suggested tips! Personally, we would only recommend this book if it’s given as a gift and it must be framed up with these words written on it “In case of emergency, BREAK GLASS!”

Evening Is the Whole Day by Preeta Samarasan

Evening Is the Whole Day by Preeta Samarasan

In this gorgeous debut (by turns heartbreaking and deeply funny), Samarasan tells the story of both one ethnic Indian family and the whole country of Malaysia, reminding us that History is the individual people it happens to. This is a tale of layered mysteries and secrets, of misunderstandings and the assignations of blame — among family members in a divided house, and between Malay, Indian, and Chinese citizens in a country where race determines a person’s legal rights and social identity.

Dont Look Down by Suzanne Enoch

Don't Look Down by Suzanne Enoch

This book has more “sex” scenes than any Suzanne’s historical romance books, and it’s understandable why. However, all the way through half the book, you will still be waiting for suspense to begin, and for action to start. It’s is still a great book, and the author does not disappoint with witty, funny dialogs, steamy bedroom (and not bedroom) sex scenes, suspence and action.

This book is about solving a murder case, with the theme of love and ghosts.

It has many characters, and it is the type of book that keeps you guessing and read late till deep into the night to find out the truth it carefully carves.

The novel requires the reader to be patient to ultimately find out the plot and the truth. Great Read!

All the Beloveds by Alina Rastam

This is a poem book.

The author has grown from her previous efforts and rather than being intruding into imposing on how the reader should feel, she is successful in creating artistic imagery to make the reader determine their own feelings.

If you are an artistic and deep person, this is a great read to take your mind off the business of life.

Game Over: How You Can Prosper in a Shattered Economy

This book offers some pain and fear on the reality of our current situation and economic crisis.

The solution offered is to buy gold to hedge against any financial crisis.

Lots of narration of the current situation and the benefits of buying gold. Good read if you haven’t known that strategy.
