My sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult

This book, My sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult, had left me in my much contemplative self even after reading it for days. I picked it up on a whim during the bookfest, not expecting it to give me such a momentous impact as to repeatedly questing myself this: The sanctity of life vs The quality of life. In fact, I googled it right away after finish reading the book. Seems it is a perennial debate in medical field and this book has raised such an issue in a more humane way, not to mention that it is touchy to the max. I was moved in many parts of the novel. Do share with us how this book has touched you or how it has impacted you in any way. Now here are some questions that have been whirling in my mind and I reckon there are no right or wrong answers. What says you? In the event of involving in such a predicament ie you are having a baby with a critical medical situation that to prolong her life, you are given a choice to develop a IVF baby, which is mainly served as a genetic donor, will you resort to it? If you were a doctor and Anna, your 13-year-old patient, gives you her consent to be an organ donor or carry out medical ops to rescue her sister, will you proceed even if you are fully aware that the child is at a great risk of sacrificing her life, by degrees. Medically and ethically speaking, is it allowed? Do you agree with the court’s verdict – granting the medical emancipation to Anna from her parents? And how will your react as a parent since you have to literally watch your daughter die with another daughter, who was brought to this world with the very reason to survive her not helping? “Morals are more important than ethics, and love is more important than law”. Do moral and love prevail over ethics and law, legally speaking?

Yes. I do agree that the only time that the book brings us something to cheer about is when Anna being granted the medical emancipation from the court. You see, everyone seems to have own troubles and way too absorbed in them that they have neglected Anna’s, which seems the only person who keeps giving in with everyone's best interest at heart. Anyhow, I do feel empathised with Sara; after all it is what a mother may have done. Having an IVF baby may not seem to be the best solution but to her, during that critical moment, it seems that is her only choice left. Honestly, if I were in her shoe, I doubt I will do the same. New problems will just branch out without you realising it.

i hate the part when Sara(the mom) tries to coax Anna to help Kate for the last time..whar didi she says huh.."if you help Kate for the last time i won't ask you to do it again"..it's sick!!for once,Sara didn't even think about Anna..i know the ending.Anna wins right.she deserves that.even if she's only 13.nobody can force you to donate your organs even if they're your parents.what they done to Anna is sick!!i feel so disgusted with Sara and the Doctor.how can they don't keep Anna's medical record!!omg!!it's like she's invisible!i know that Kate's dying..but Doctor Chance cleraly said that even if Kate do the Kidney transplant, she's probably won't survive.so y must you sacrifice your other daughter..since you know the 1st one wont probably live???

hurm..i haven't finish reading this book..nearly there..but i don't like the fact that the parent sort of create Anna just for the fact to help Kate.it is WRONG okay..for whatever reason.i think one should'nt used other people like that even if ur daughter is dying..OMG!i personally think think that the mother seriously bias...i pity Anna okay.she have to sacrifice everything for Kate.like Jessie's once said that'the world doesn't revolve aorund Kate only'..but the mother seems to forgot ebout her two other kids.and it's pretty sad ok for Anna and Jessie..
